Crom’s Crommentary: The Efficiency of the Democrat Political Machine and Suicide by Big Government

Apr 14, 2023

Live from Music Row Friday morning on The Tennessee Star Report with Michael Patrick Leahy – broadcast on Nashville’s Talk Radio 98.3 and 1510 WLAC weekdays from 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. – host Leahy welcomed original all-star panelist Crom Carmichael to the studio for another edition of Crom’s Crommentary.

CROM CARMICHAEL:

Michael in the last two or three days, the Biden administration has completely upended the automobile industry. And by using a very suspect part of the law on auto emissions. They don’t have the power. The EPA lacks the legal authority to mandate EVAs per se. But the Biden administration thinks that they do have the ability to regulate auto emissions in such a way as to force people to buy electric vehicles and to force the manufacturers to manufacture electric vehicles.

An average electric vehicle costs $58,000. An average combustion engine is $44,000. And by the way, that’s up about $10,000 in the last two years. And you have to ask yourself why on earth would a political party upend the entire automobile industry in personal transportation. And the answer is that as the Biden administration looks at their political allies and their contributors, then they look at everybody else.

As we’ve discussed before, the Biden administration and the Democrat Party have really become a party of grifters. In this case, all of the green energy people support Democrats because Biden is throwing tens of billions, maybe even hundreds of billions of dollars into the green energy industry.

But the problem for the greenies is that people are still buying internal combustion engines. And so this is a way for the Biden administration to reward his supporters by essentially forcing the automobile industry, which doesn’t really know what to do because if an automobile company sues, then they know that this administration will send all the regulators in every department and crush the company.

Which is not the way that our society is supposed to work. It really smacks of fascism in the truest sense of the word, that if you don’t do what you’re told I’ll put the heel of my boot on your company. And so that is where we are now. It’s a really sad day. But then I’ve thought about how they can get away with it.

And the answer is the Democrat political machine is just so much better than the Republican political machine. And you look at what happened in Chicago, where you had a, what I would describe as a moderate Democrat running against a flaming leftist Democrat. And the flaming leftist Democrat won because the Democrat political machine in Chicago wanted the flaming leftist to win.

And then you look at what happened in Wisconsin with the Supreme Court judge, and you see the machine of the Democrat party in action in elections. Republicans simply don’t have that. We are way too busy on stuff that doesn’t matter that much. We don’t seem to want to get our act together because we are way more into policy than we are about paradigms. And it’s a scary thing.

There’s a related article that net zero will mean a mining boom. And so the policies that Biden is pushing for EVs are going to create an enormous mining boom because electric vehicles require all kinds of minerals, copper, lithium, all kinds of minerals that internal combustion engine cars don’t need as much of or don’t need at all.

And the problem is that the mining boom will reward one country above all else, and that’s China. Because so many of the rare earth minerals are mined in China or they’re mined in countries that China is now pouring money into to build relationships with those local governments and we are literally committing suicide by big government. It’s scary.

Matthew Giffin, a reporter for The Tennessee Star, and Michael Patrick Leahy, editor-in-chief and CEO of The Star, questioned the legality of News Channel 5’s airing of a so-called secret recording of a call between Tennessee State Representative Todd Warner (R-Chapel Hill) and Americans for Prosperity – Tennessee (AFP-TN) State Director Tori Venable.

On Monday, the news outlet ran investigative reporter Phil Williams’ 8-minute anti-school choice hit piece focused on AFP-TN’s push for state lawmakers to advance the governor’s bill.

Author Peter Schweizer Reveals the Reason Why American Leaders Refuse to Push Back on China

Peter Schweizer, author of Blood Money: Why the Powerful Turn a Blind Eye While China Kills Americans, said a majority of U.S. leaders are silent on China’s role in inciting American issues due to their personal, financial entanglement with the foreign nation.

Schweizer said his book focuses on a multitude of American issues – including crime and drugs – and details the “overwhelming evidence” connecting China to such issues.
