Tennessee Rep. Andy Ogles Previews Upcoming Vote on Mayorkas Impeachment, Senate Border Deal Discussions

Feb 6, 2024

U.S. Representative Andy Ogles (R-TN-05) joined Monday’s edition of The Tennessee Star Report with Michael Patrick Leahy to discuss the Senate’s so-called “border deal” and the House of Representatives’ upcoming vote on two articles of impeachment against Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.

On the upcoming impeachment vote against Mayorkas, Ogles said the votes in the House “should be there” to impeach the secretary, adding, “We have an obligation to move forward and hold him accountable and put on the record that you can’t just ignore our laws in this country.”

“He’s the guy that essentially allows our country to be invaded at the southern border to the tune of about eight million people…This guy is complicit with really overrunning our country,” Ogles said.

Pivoting to the Senate “border deal,” which is a $118.3 billion emergency spending package that would fund U.S. national security efforts in Ukraine, Israel, and at the U.S.-Mexico border, Ogles confirmed reports that the package would be dead on arrival once sent to the House.

Ogles noted that the Senate “has a solution” in regards to securing the southern border, naming H.R. 2 – the Secure the Border Act of 2023.

“Roughly eight months ago, the House of Representatives passed House Bill 2 which does secure the border and it does the right thing to make our country safe. And the Senate has not taken that up. So they have a solution sitting on their desk, but they’re more interested in trying to get more voters in by bringing in illegals, giving them the right to vote so they have a built-in constituency. And they’re literally changing communities or trying to change communities in Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas,” Ogles explained. “But hopefully the American people are wising up. I mean, when you’ve got the mayor of Chicago and New York saying, “please stop, please close the border,” that should be a canary in the coal mine for the Biden administration. But you know, he’s clueless. So who knows?”

Ogles, noting that the Senate’s spending package is a “waste of taxpayer money,” announced that he will be filing a bill called the Send Them Back Act that would deport every migrant that has come into the U.S. illegally under the Biden administration.

Ogles said his bill will “send a message back to the Senate” demonstrating “what the American people want.”

Roger Simon on Pro-Hamas, Anti-Israel Protests on College Campuses: ‘What Happened in Germany in 1937’ Is ‘What We’re Undergoing Now’

Roger Simon, the co-founder of PJMedia and current columnist for The Epoch Times, said the pro-Hamas protests unfolding on Ivy League college campuses across the nation are comparable to the scene in Germany in 1937.

Simon made the comments on Tuesday’s episode of The Michael Patrick Leahy Show after listening to audio of a clip taken from Columbia University where pro-Palestine protesters formed a human chain to keep Jewish students out of an encampment on the university’s campus.

NewsChannel 5’s Phil Williams Refuses to Explain His Failure to Get Justin Jones on the Record about Allegations He Covered Up Report of 2020 Sexual Assault, Tries to Distract with False Claims About Tennessee Star Reporter

Tom Pappert, lead reporter at The Tennessee Star, addressed personal attacks from NewsChannel 5’s chief investigative reporter Phil Williams over the weekend, saying such attacks are “absolute silliness” and a common tactic used by Williams when pressed on his “journalistic failings.”

On Sunday, Pappert reported on an interview between Williams and Dan Mandis, host of Nashville’s Morning News with Dan Mandis on SuperTalk 99.7 WTN, where Williams said that he once asked Tennessee State Representative Justin Jones (D-Nashville) to respond to claims made by his former close colleague Jeneisha Harris on June 18, 2020 that the state lawmaker had covered up the sexual assault of two protesters by a homeless man.
