Roger Simon: Twitter Space Is Not America’s Town Square

May 25, 2023

Live from Music Row, Thursday morning on The Tennessee Star Report with Michael Patrick Leahy – broadcast on Nashville’s Talk Radio 98.3 and 1510 WLAC weekdays from 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. – guest host Aaron Gulbransen welcomed all-star panelist Roger Simon in studio to discuss the Musk-DeSantis Twitter Space town square.

Gulbranen: Joining us is in studio, conservative media legend, and all-star panelist, Roger Simon of The Epoch Times. How are you, sir?

Simon: I’m fine and I love being called a legend because it makes me feel like I’m ready to be put out the door. (Laughter)

Gulbransen: Or as some people like to say good to see you, good to be seen. I want to jump right into it because you know, this is one of the shorter segments, but you are going to be a very busy man soon. And of course, you paid very close attention to the DeSantis rollout yesterday on Twitter.

Simon: The real problem with that was Twitter. What does someone in the DeSantis campaign or DeSantis himself blah, blah, blah. Who knows? Anyway, got the idea that the way they announced your campaign was on something called Twitter Space that, 12 people know about.

So I dutifully figured out what Twitter Space was and tuned in because it’s my job. And also I was curious and lo and behold it didn’t work and everybody’s going crazy. And finally, it starts to work, and there’s Elon Musk and some other people, and of course DeSantis.

Now, what was interesting about that is that it is being broadcasted on Twitter as the town square of America. But that’s a lot of BS because when you think about it, what was exactly going on is people were coming by invitation only to ask questions of DeSantis after registering and saying, oh, DeSantis, you’re great.

That’s not any kind of town square. It’s exactly what you would get from CBS or anybody else. In fact, In the past when CNN has done these things has given the questions in advance to people like Hillary Clinton and so forth. So it was not at all a broadcast.

And I would issue a warning to a friend of mine named Tucker Carlson who has placed his bet with Twitter for coming back on. And I don’t think that’s such a great idea. And now I’ll turn it over to you guys.

Election Integrity Law Expert Phill Kline: ‘The Democratic Party Lost Faith in Democracy a Long Time Ago’

Phill Kline, former Kansas Attorney General and current law professor at Liberty University School of Law, said the Democratic Party “lost faith in democracy a long time ago,” specifically citing multiple occasions when Democrat-occupied executive branches “stretched the law” to act without legislative consultation or approval on partisan issues.

Kline said Democrats have abused the executive branch to stretch emergency powers to advance partisan policies, including the environment, gun control, and, most recently, the COVID-19 pandemic.
