Roger Simon, the co-founder of PJ Media and author of the newly-launched Substack “American Refugees,” said Democrats’ – including President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris – calling for a ceasefire between Israeli and Hamas forces in Gaza is essentially a call for “Hamas to be preserved.”
During her speech at the Democratic National Convention last week where she accepted the party’s nomination to be their 2024 presidential nominee, Harris addressed the war in Gaza by attempting to satisfy both sides of the issue.
In her remarks, Harris said:
With respect to the war in Gaza, President Biden and I are working around the clock because now is the time to get a hostage deal and a ceasefire deal done. And let me be clear: I will always stand up for Israel’s right to defend itself and ensure Israel has the ability to defend itself, because the people of Israel must never again face the horror that a terrorist organization called Hamas caused on October 7th including unspeakable sexual violence and the massacre of young people at a music festival.
At the same time, what has happened in Gaza over the past 10 months is devastating. So many innocent lives lost. Desperate, hungry people fleeing for safety over and over again. The scale of suffering is heartbreaking. President Biden and I are working to end this war such that Israel is secure, the hostages are released, the suffering in Gaza ends, and the Palestinian people can realize their right to dignity, security, freedom and self determination.
Simon, during Friday’s episode of The Michael Patrick Leahy Show, pointed out multiple inconsistencies with Harris’ remarks, specifically her account of the “suffering” Palestinian people.
“The stupidity of this is beyond belief. And the big lies, for example, that the Palestinians are starving is a complete lie. There’s a tremendous amount of food going in there, but a lot of it is stolen by Hamas,” Simon explained.
Simon also noted how Israel “freely gave Gaza to the Palestinian Authority in 2005,” which ended up being taken over by Hamas two years later.
“The interesting thing about it is most of the American public doesn’t have any idea of the history of Gaza. The Israelis freely gave Gaza to the Palestinian Authority in 2005. In 2007, the thugs from Hamas came in, killed their friends in the Palestinian Authority and made the place into a kind of crazy Kleptocracy,” Simon said.
In regards to the October 7 attack on Israel which he described as a “historic atrocity,” Simon pointed out that Harris and Biden’s call for a ceasefire just days after the attack was essentially a call for Hamas to be “preserved.”
“The really interesting thing about this is that the Biden-Harris administration has been calling for a ceasefire since a couple of days after the whole thing started. Which means that they were calling for Hamas to be preserved,” Simon explained, noting how the war would have “been over months ago” if Israel wasn’t restricted in its full response to the October 7 attack.
