Reporter Rachel Alexander: Ruben Gallego ‘Cannot Hide’ from Open Borders Record

Sep 23, 2024

Rachel Alexander, lead reporter at The Arizona Sun Times, said Arizona U.S. Representative Ruben Gallego (D-AZ-03), who is running for the U.S. Senate, “cannot hide” from his record supporting open borders policies while he has served in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Alexander published a detailed report on Thursday of multiple instances where Gallego has advocated for open borders and against border security while, at the same time, violent crime rises in Arizona.

Noting how violent crime in the state has increased during the same time its international border has been flooded with illegal aliens, Alexander also pointed out in her piece that Arizona’s violent crime rate has “outpaced the rest of the U.S. average for years.”

While discussing her piece on Friday’s edition of The Michael Patrick Leahy Show, Alexander said the statistics are “astronomical” while also pointing out how difficult it was to find the statistics themselves as if they were being “hidden” from public review.

“What didn’t make it into my article but what your viewers need to know is that they are hiding these crime statistics. I had to dig deep. If you go to the Arizona Public Safety’s website or the Phoenix Police Department, what they do to them is ‘Oh, between 2022 and 2023, there was a dip in violent crime.’ But if you look at the numbers from, say, 2019 to right now, it’s a huge increase. It’s a massive increase. Like in Tucson, almost 200 percent increase in homicides,” Alexander explained.

“So they’re trying to hide this record, and we know why they’re doing it. The city of Phoenix mayor is Democrat Kate Gallego, the alleged governor of Arizona is Katie Hobbs, and she’s over Arizona DPS. So they are disguising how they’re presenting this information to the public,” Alexander added.

When it comes to Gallego, Alexander pointed out how the Democrat is attempting to change the narrative surrounding his support for open borders at a time when Arizona crime is rising.

“[Gallego’s] entire record, up until very recently, he’s voted for every open borders bill,” Alexander said.

“Even though he’s trying to say a few different things on the campaign trail, trying to hide his record on crime and border security, you can’t hide from that many years of really, truly bad votes,” Alexander added.

Despite this, Alexander went on to bring awareness to how the correlation between rising crime rate and the surge of illegal aliens is “being hidden from the voters,” which Alexander added may be a reason why Gallego is polling higher than his opponent, Republican Kari Lake, who is a strong advocate for border security.

“If you try to look anywhere on the internet for the correlation between illegal immigration and crime, all you can find is a bunch of progressive organizations that have tried to skew the statistics to make it look like there is no correlation,” Alexander explained.

“We’re not getting the message out on that so much, and that’s where I’m very concerned. If you’re looking at these polls between Ruben Gallego and Kari he’s doing strangely somewhat well,” Alexander added.

Reporter Tom Pappert: Joe Biden ‘Deeply Resentful’ of Democratic Party, Sabotaging Kamala Harris’ Campaign for Revenge

Tom Pappert, lead reporter at The Tennessee Star, said he believes President Joe Biden is “sabotaging” Vice President Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign out of “pure resentment” for how the Democratic Party pushed him to end his reelection bid.

On Tuesday, Biden said on a Zoom call with members of the nonprofit organization Voto Latino that supporters of former President Donald Trump were “floating…garbage.”
