Pollster John McLaughlin: The Only Crime Trump Has Committed is Being Ahead in the Polls

Jun 3, 2024

Long-time pollster John McLaughlin said President Joe Biden is trying to make former President Donald Trump look like the “Nelson Mandela of America” through the tactic of lawfare in order to persuade voters to vote against him in November.

“Biden wants to make [Trump] the Nelson Mandela of America because in most parts of the country, people want to believe in the rule of law…It’s really scary,” McLaughlin said on Friday’s episode of The Michael Patrick Leahy Show.

“If Joe Biden can do this to him with the Department of Justice, the FBI, the IRS, the rest of us are just cannon fire for this guy,” McLaughlin added.

McLaughlin’s remarks came one day after Trump was found guilty by a Manhattan jury on all 34 counts in the falsification of business records linked to the Stormy Daniels hush money scandal, marking the first time in history that a U.S. president has been convicted of a felony.

“It’s a sad day in American history because of what they did. Here you have the leading Republican candidate who’s beating the incumbent president, Joe Biden, because of his failure as president. Lawfare is too weak of a word. I have European clients…and they said this is what the communists did in 1946 and 1947. They would come in and charge their opponents and they just destroyed democracy after World War II. They put their opponents in jail, and sometimes worse,” McLaughlin said.

“I’ve been saying to President Trump, ‘He’s trying to make you Nelson Mandela.’ I think most Americans will see that for what it is. The sentencing hearing is four days before the Republican convention in Milwaukee. This judge is trying to restrict President Trump’s travel, he could put him in jail. Each one of those counts have a four year charge. That judge could put him in Rikers Island tomorrow and it’d be 136 years. This is insane,” McLaughlin added.

McLaughlin went on to say that the Biden administration “manufactured” Trump’s conviction not only in an attempt to hold the White House but also to protect the “corrupt” Biden family.

“I told [Trump], the only crime he’s committed since last year is that he’s ahead in the polls and all of these things have happened ever since Biden surrendered to Afghanistan and triggered inflation. Donald Trump’s been leading him in the polls and Joe Biden is the most corrupt, failed president in the history of the country,” McLaughlin said.

“This is an unbelievably bad day for American democracy that they can manufacture a conviction like this just to stay in power in the White House and protect a clearly corrupt family. Joe Biden’s been lying to the American public about his family’s business dealings with China and said it didn’t happen when he was vice president. Now, you’re seeing documents that he knew, and he was aiding and abetting his son to take millions of dollars from the Chinese and Communist Chinese. So, if you ever want to understand some of his policies, the communist Chinese hold the mortgage on Joe Biden,” McLaughlin added.

When it comes to Trump’s handling of the lawfare against him, McLaughin said the former president is simply “enduring it.”

“He’s enduring it. He’s an amazing man because when you think of everything he’s gone through, where they’ve tried to take away his business, his wealth, then persecuted his family, his friends he looks at it like we have to win, otherwise we’re gonna lose our country. He’s on a mission,” McLaughlin said.

Reporter Tom Pappert: Lawfare Skullduggery in Pennsylvania Proves Democrats Are in Denial After Election Losses

Tom Pappert, reporter at The Pennsylvania Daily Star, said Democrats’ ongoing refusal to accept the election results of the Pennsylvania U.S. Senate race which saw Republican Dave McCormick defeat incumbent Democrat Bob Casey (D-PA) is textbook “election denialism.”

While The Associated Press called the race for McCormick two days after Election Day last week, Casey has refused to concede.
