Legal Reporter Rachel Alexander Explains How John Eastman Disbarment Case Sets Tone for Election Challenges Nationwide

Sep 18, 2024

Rachel Alexander, the lead reporter at The Arizona Sun Times, detailed how the disbarment case of former President Donald Trump’s former attorney and constitutional legal scholar, John Eastman, sets a bleak tone for cases challenging election results nationwide.

On Wednesday, Alexander published a report on Eastman’s filing of an opening brief with the California State Bar Court last week appealing his disbarment for assisting Trump with legal representation regarding the 2020 election illegalities.

Alexander, who was the only journalist in the nation who covered every day of Eastman’s disbarment trial, said the “terrifying” reality about Eastman’s case is the fact that Democratic judges are now going after high-profile attorneys to silence challenges to elections brought on by conservatives.

As a former attorney herself, Alexander also has experience with lawfare against conservatives. Her own law license was suspended in 2012 while she was working as a special assistant attorney for former Maricopa County Attorney Andrew Thomas.

“What is so terrifying about this to me is, the left usually goes after the low-hanging fruit. We all know my story and how they came after me. I was the low-hanging easy fruit, because I didn’t know anybody, I didn’t have any power or money. That’s understandable when they’re able to take out the little people, but when they’re able to go after the big, powerful, impressive, intelligent people – John Eastman, Donald Trump – when they are able to get convictions on them…The system has been turned upside down,” Alexander explained on Wednesday’s edition of The Michael Patrick Leahy Show.

Alexander went on to use Eastman’s case to explain why many conservative attorneys are hesitant to take on cases challenging election results, pointing to, for example, how attorneys have refused to represent Arizona U.S. Senate candidate Kari Lake in her challenge to election results.

“We all know that famous statement by Kari Lake. She said a few months ago that at this point…she is unable to get attorneys to represent her,” Alexander said.

“This is ridiculous,” Alexander added.

In regards to the November 5 general election, Alexander predicted that cases challenging election results will be plentiful and comparable to “2020 on steroids,” however, she was not optimistic that conservatives will emerge victorious in many of the possible cases.

“I feel like the [Republican National Committee], especially, is really ramped up with tons of election attorneys, we’re in way better condition…But these judges are just going to do exactly what they did in 2020 and they’re going to reject election challenges for the same bogus reasons: you don’t have standing, lashes, filed at the wrong time. That’s what’s going to defeat the legal challenges,” Alexander said.

Reporter Tom Pappert: Joe Biden ‘Deeply Resentful’ of Democratic Party, Sabotaging Kamala Harris’ Campaign for Revenge

Tom Pappert, lead reporter at The Tennessee Star, said he believes President Joe Biden is “sabotaging” Vice President Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign out of “pure resentment” for how the Democratic Party pushed him to end his reelection bid.

On Tuesday, Biden said on a Zoom call with members of the nonprofit organization Voto Latino that supporters of former President Donald Trump were “floating…garbage.”
