EJ Haust Dismisses Tim Walz’s Claim that Democrats are a ‘Big Tent Party’

Oct 23, 2024

EJ Haust, a digital marketing expert and former journalist who lived in Minnesota for 12 years before relocating to Tennessee, dismissed Minnesota Governor and Democratic vice presidential nominee Tim Walz’s claim that the Democratic Party is the “big tent party.”

On Monday’s episode of The Daily Show, hosted by Jon Stewart, Walz was questioned about the Democrats’ acceptance of former Vice President Dick Cheney and his daughter, former Republican congresswoman Liz Cheney’s endorsements of the Harris-Walz campaign.

Walz said the welcoming of the Cheneys’ endorsements of the campaign proves that the Democrats are the “big tent party,” going on to note how other individuals – including Taylor Swift – have also endorsed the campaign.

However, Stewart was not satisfied with Walz’s answer, saying, “No, you can’t [compare] Dick Cheney or Taylor Swift…What big country did Taylor Swift get us to invade? No!”

On Tuesday’s edition of The Michael Patrick Leahy Show, Haust said it was “funny” how Walz said that the Democrats are the “welcoming” and “big party tent,” noting the party’s refusal to accept “Christians” or “conservatives who love the country.”

“What’s funny is they keep saying, ‘We’re a big tent’ and they get Liz Cheney and Maria Shriver, and now I guess some long descendant of President Ford is endorsing them,” Haust explained.

“What I find to be funny is he’s saying, “We’re this big tent’ and he’s throwing his arms up in the air with his signature cheerleader, jazz hands, but also trying to make the point that we’ll welcome everybody. Except not Christians, not actual conservatives who love the country. Only those who, like Jon Stewart said, want to get us in wars all over the place. Like even conservatives don’t like Dick Cheney,” Haust said.

Haust said the Democratic Party “can have” Dick and Liz Cheney.

“You can have him. You can have Liz Cheney. We don’t like her either,” Haust said.

Pollster John McLaughlin Breaks Down Trump’s Stance in the Race with Eight Days to go Until Election Day

Long-time pollster John McLaughlin said former President Donald Trump has presented a solid closing argument to the American people in the final days leading up to the November 5 general election, which is offering voters a stark comparison between his policies and those implemented by the current Biden-Harris administration.

Noting how the former president maintains a slight lead in the race over Vice President Kamala Harris, McLaughlin explained on Monday’s edition of The Michael Patrick Leahy Show how Trump’s current position in the race is comparable to Mitt Romney’s campaign in 2012 at the same point in time.
