Carol Swain Reflects on ‘Be the People’ Conference, Reveals Jill Biden’s ‘Discreet’ Meeting Next Door

Feb 13, 2024

Dr. Carol M. Swain said First Lady Jill Biden held a “discreet” meeting at the Richland Country Club at the same time Swain’s nonprofit organization Be the People’s American Dream Conference was taking place on Friday evening in Nashville.

Biden initially traveled to Franklin for a “political event” reportedly occurring at the home of country music star Brad Paisley, however, also held an unannounced event at the Richland Country Club on Friday, according to Swain.

“I don’t know whether it was afterwards or before her event in Franklin, but she was at the Richland Country Club during some of the time that we were there,” Swain said during Monday’s episode of The Tennessee Star Report with Michael Patrick Leahy. “She was giving a talk at the same time and so Saturday morning, we were told that the staff was stressed out from the previous evening because they had two big events – my event and Jill Biden.”

Further reflecting on this past weekend’s conference, held on Friday, February 9 and Saturday, February 10, Swain praised fellow of the Manhattan Institute think tank Heather MacDonald who spoke about the Black Lives Matter movement during an educational panel on the second day of the conference.

“[Mac Donald] talked about the narrative of Black Lives Matter and those who argue that police out there are just killing black men. Just how far off-base their statistics are, that most of the stuff that they argue on is not supported by facts. If you look at who is actually committing all the crimes, it tends to be black people,” Swain said. “I think that is something that most people are afraid to say out loud, certainly white people are, and that if you want to change, even not just the crime levels, but opportunities for blacks, there has to be some work done within the culture. And that’s something that many of us know.”

“I have argued that it’s important to focus within rather than just pointing fingers at police or blaming slavery or blaming racism. There’s some serious problems in the black community that progressives are willing to just gloss over,” Swain added.

Swain also spoke highly of panelist Dr. James Lindsay, founder of New Discourses, adding that her nonprofit may host him for a three-hour workshop at the Brentwood Library.

Roger Simon on Pro-Hamas, Anti-Israel Protests on College Campuses: ‘What Happened in Germany in 1937’ Is ‘What We’re Undergoing Now’

Roger Simon, the co-founder of PJMedia and current columnist for The Epoch Times, said the pro-Hamas protests unfolding on Ivy League college campuses across the nation are comparable to the scene in Germany in 1937.

Simon made the comments on Tuesday’s episode of The Michael Patrick Leahy Show after listening to audio of a clip taken from Columbia University where pro-Palestine protesters formed a human chain to keep Jewish students out of an encampment on the university’s campus.

NewsChannel 5’s Phil Williams Refuses to Explain His Failure to Get Justin Jones on the Record about Allegations He Covered Up Report of 2020 Sexual Assault, Tries to Distract with False Claims About Tennessee Star Reporter

Tom Pappert, lead reporter at The Tennessee Star, addressed personal attacks from NewsChannel 5’s chief investigative reporter Phil Williams over the weekend, saying such attacks are “absolute silliness” and a common tactic used by Williams when pressed on his “journalistic failings.”

On Sunday, Pappert reported on an interview between Williams and Dan Mandis, host of Nashville’s Morning News with Dan Mandis on SuperTalk 99.7 WTN, where Williams said that he once asked Tennessee State Representative Justin Jones (D-Nashville) to respond to claims made by his former close colleague Jeneisha Harris on June 18, 2020 that the state lawmaker had covered up the sexual assault of two protesters by a homeless man.
