Aaron’s Analysis: Dispelling Tennessee Red Flag Law Rumors

Apr 18, 2023

Live from Music Row, Tuesday morning on The Tennessee Star Report with Michael Patrick Leahy – broadcast on Nashville’s Talk Radio 98.3 and 1510 WLAC weekdays from 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. – host Leahy welcomed all-star panelist Aaron Gulbransen in studio for another edition of Aaron’s Analysis.

AARON GULBRANSEN:

I feel like this is going to become a recurring theme for me as an aside since you mentioned professional wrestling; my joke about it, which I said yesterday at an event that we did with Tennessee Faith and Freedom, is that professional wrestling is slightly less predetermined than politics which of course elicited chuckles in the room.

But I feel like exhorting the audience to always dig deeper into issues. And it’s gonna be a bit of a reoccurring theme for me because one of the things that, that we do in the press, in the media, and those of us who work on the advocacy side of things, is we have actual real conversations with people.

We actually figure out what’s going on rather than dive into the hysteria. A very large part of my job, when an issue comes up, is to actually figure out what’s really going on and then relay that information to people. People will hear about an issue, and in this particular case, I’ll use a specific example of a rumor floating around in the rumor mill, a red flag law.

And then there were motivations and other things ascribed to various members of the Tennessee General Assembly. When you actually dig into what was really going on, and of course, this is my personal and professional assessment, you look and you find that the reason that, in all likelihood coming out of the Tennessee General Assembly, there was never going to be a red flag law proposed.

And two, there are a few names that you could associate with that, in my view, State Senate Majority Leader Jack Johnson, House Majority Leader William Lamberth, and State Senator John Stevens. Those are a number of names, and there are several more that are the very reason why in my view, we are not looking for a red flag law.

Meanwhile, you have a lot of hysteria going around the state and accusations thrown here and there when nothing could be further from the truth on that side of things. When you have an issue like a red flag log pop up, and it is certainly something to pay attention to and certainly something to ensure doesn’t happen, on the other hand, you have something from the Left.

I noticed yesterday a bizarre demonstration of six fake caskets being used as props and attempted to be brought on the floor of the Tennessee House. Amidst of course, I think Justin Jones and his cohorts are pro-radical Marxist gun control advocates who unwittingly demonstrated to the world exactly what they were doing with the lives of those people that were lost at Covenant.

They were using them as props. They exposed what they were doing and. Again, if you’re on the emotional side, on the left side of this issue you wouldn’t have dug quite so deep. But the truth of the matter is when you look at this with a discerning eye, you see exactly what I saw, which is they’re using sadly, a tragedy in the lives of three children and three adults of the Covenant School as props to advance a political agenda.

And even worse than that, a political agenda is something to disagree with, and defending against personal profit and notoriety and advancing a career in my opinion, is even worse, which is exactly what Justin Jones, Justin Pearson, and crazy Gloria Johnson are doing.
