Robby Starbuck, Tennessee political commentator and documentary filmmaker, recently took on a role at the Heritage Foundation as a visiting fellow to lead the conservative think tank’s capital markets initiative.
The Heritage Foundation’s capital markets initiative “encourages businesses to prioritize merit and ethics over divisive agendas that are unethical, immoral, and illegal—like so-called diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies,” according to the think tank.
In addition, the think tank said Starbuck will also “lend his communications expertise towards strategy and messaging on environmental, social, and governance (ESG)-based investing.”
On Tuesday’s edition of The Michael Patrick Leahy Show, Starbuck described his work at the Heritage Foundation, on top of his work exposing American companies for their DEI initiatives, as “another tool in the tool belt to advance conservative ideals across corporate America.”
“We’re going to continue our independent operation fully under my control here in Middle Tennessee which focuses a lot on national efforts. We’re still doing all the same stuff, but we’re also taking on this project with the Heritage Foundation. I think collectively, we’re going to be able to advance a lot of change for our side,” Starbuck said.
Starbuck said one area of change he looks forward to working on at the think tank is to ensure conservative dollars are being spent “effectively” to advance conservative values.
“One thing I’m very concerned about is that the left has effectively used their money to get what they want culturally and they come together to do that. The right hasn’t done that effectively in a very long time. Conservatives haven’t done that effectively in a very long time. So as a conservative, I want to coalesce a lot of the conservative dollars around our values and make sure that we’re using it effectively,” Starbuck explained.
“There’s a lot of tools within Heritage to be able to do that. They have institutional knowledge and ability to advance policy throughout government…Advancing policy is very important for long-term change, and advocating for the right policies and ensuring that we’re doing all the right things, I think it’s very critical in terms of ensuring long-term success,” Starbuck added.
