Michael, a week or so ago, the Supreme Court handed down a ruling called West Virginia v. EPA. And at the time, you and I discussed that ruling and I said that that would have a more profound effect on our country in a positive way by reining in the bureaucracy of the federal government, which abuses the power that is given to it in the Constitution.
Well, Mayor Pete Buttigieg, who’s now Secretary of Transportation, is ignoring that ruling, and he’s trying to implement a program – and I’m going to just quote here from The Wall Street Journal just very quickly now, the Federal Highway Administration wants to make this abuse authority on the road.
It cites an obscure provision in a federal law that authorizes it to set national performance goals for the national highway system. It’s taking this to an extreme level, which is exactly what the EPA had done.
So this will probably be struck down by the first court that it goes to, which is a good thing, because I believe that ruling, West Virginia v. EPA was written in a very clear fashion so that the judges must adhere to the constitution.
But this raises the question that I’ve been bringing up for over a year, and that is that when public officials abuse their power, and I mean abuse it, should there be accountability for them individually?
And I still raise that question because the police officer who put his knee on the neck of George Floyd, resulting in George Floyd’s death, is in prison because he abused the authority of a police officer.
My question is, can a government bureaucrat who is creating tens of millions of dollars, maybe hundreds of millions, perhaps even billions of dollars of cost to average people, is there any accountability when they break the law?
We have the Supreme court ruling, and we now see this kind of throughout the Biden administration that when the courts rule in a way that is contrary to the goals of the Biden administration, they just simply ignore the court ruling and proceed as if it didn’t happen.
We will have to come up with a way of holding officials accountable who ignore the law and then try to impose their will on the people, which costs millions or billions of dollars. So we’re going to have to do something, and we’ll see what that is.
Michael, a couple of shows ago we talked about I mentioned that Biden had presented his budget to Congress. Now he’s presented it two months late, but here’s what’s interesting. The assumptions are five months old.
So, for example in this year’s budget, he is projecting that inflation will be 2.9 percent. Now, inflation is 8 percent, but his projections are 2.9 percent. In his budget plan, he has 36 tax increases that he says will collect $2.5 trillion.
He has a 36 percent corporate tax increase, and he plans to increase taxes on domestic fossil fuels by $45 billion. Now, the media isn’t talking about Biden’s budget at all, but here’s what else is interesting.
Biden, right now here are the headwinds that Democrats have going into this election. 88 percent of the American public now thinks that America is on the wrong track. That’s an all-time high.
Ever since they’ve been measuring that particular metric, it’s never been 88 percent. 23 percent have confidence in Joe Biden’s presidency.
But here’s what’s interesting about the media. When you ask the voters going into the Midterms, what are their biggest concerns, here are their top four: Rising gasoline prices, 92 percent concerned.
Inflation, 91 percent concerned. The economy, 89 percent. Violent crime 88 percent. Those are the top four. What are the top four media issues going into the Midterm? Climate change 64 percent concerned. Abortion rights 63 percent concerned. Ukraine war 60 percent concerned, and capital riot investigation 57 percent.
And so the people who present the news to us are completely at odds with the American people and live on a different planet than the voters who will determine who will be our House and Senate and our governors and legislatures across the state.
Because when you look at this data and you look at what the people in the media care about, you can begin to understand why there’s such a huge disconnect among the public because the public expresses what their concerns are.
And the media essentially sticks their finger right in the eye of the public and says, we really don’t care what your concerns are because your concerns, frankly, don’t affect us.
So we’re more concerned about the others. So my sense of it is that with Democrats not being willing to share the stage with Biden, Tim Ryan, when asked directly, do you want Biden to come to Ohio to campaign on your behalf? Wouldn’t answer the question.
Leahy: And when Biden went to Ohio on Wednesday, Tim Ryan was nowhere to be found.
Carmichael: Neither was the lady who’s head of the Congressional Black Caucus, who’s from Ohio. She wasn’t on the podium either, which tells me that there’s a big shift also with Black voters. Now, we already know that Hispanic voters are leaving the Democrat Party in droves.
And it could be that Black voters will support a Republican candidate perhaps as much as 25 perhaps in this election, which would be a huge shift.
And with the Hispanics, the only constituency, the Democrat Party seems to have left is very wealthy white people, particularly very wealthy white women.
And so it will be interesting to see if that very narrow constituency can somehow carry the day. I doubt that it will. And also, Michael, we like to kind of give our predictions here, at least I do. I think that Republicans will win the state Senate seat in the state of Washington.
Michael, there are three things that are going on at the same time and they’re all related. One is CNN Plus is imploding even though owes a great and mighty Chris Wallace left Fox News and went to CNN. Because CNN believed that Chris Wallace was popular. And he never has been popular.
He’s always been kind of a daddy’s boy. And he’s made a lot of money because he was Mike Wallace’s son. But CNN is now imploding. And what’s interesting is when he left, he was there 18 years, paid millions of dollars for at least each of the last 10 years.
And when he left, he was very ungracious. He did an interview in The Western Journal and he sneered at the network, at Fox network and his viewers saying about his long tenure at Fox, ‘But I can certainly understand where somebody would say, gee, Chris, you’re a slow learner.’
He was really talking about how he is now free to think and to act. But CNN Plus, which is why he left, is imploding. And by the way, that’s because people who watch CNN don’t pay for news.
They won’t pay for it. They just like to be propagandized. Which ties into Mark Zuckerberg. After Molly Hemingway’s book Rigged came out and the documentary was aired within 24 hours, Mark Zuckerberg said he’s not going to participate in the midterm elections in the way that he did in the last election.
So what he is seeing from that documentary is that they have the goods on him. So the question is going to be whether or not he is treated appropriately under the law.
If the next administration is a Republican administration because there are laws about campaign spending and the book Rigged makes a very good case that he broke those laws.
Now let’s move to what Elon Musk is doing in his attempted takeover of Twitter. Twitter stock has fallen from 80 to 30 over the last 18 months. It’s very clear that the board of directors and the executives at Twitter do not believe that their shareholders are that important to them.
Well, now they have a very stark choice. They can either see their stock go back to approximately 30 and maybe even lower, or they can take Musk’s offer of $54.20 a share and do what is right by the shareholders.
So the question is whether or not the board of directors are going to do what’s right by the Democrat Party and the left, or whether or not it’s going to do what’s right by the shareholders. But what’s also fascinating is that there are reports that the DOJ and the SEC are now attacking Tesla.
And let me just say that the DOJ and the SEC are people. They’re not just institutions. So the institution of the DOJ and the institution of the SEC does not attack Tesla. It will be the individuals inside those institutions.
And then the question is if they are using their positions of power for political purposes and the next President is not of their thinking, it’s a question of whether or not those people because what they are doing is seditious what they’re doing is using the power of government to try to silence the potential opposition of other people.
It should be obvious to any thinking person that the left believes that it is now in control of the government and that it must maintain its control of the government or for them, there is a great risk, and for all of those associated with the left.
So the next 30 days are going to be absolutely critical and then the midterms of course. But with Zuckerberg not agreeing to help the Democrat Party with what you and I think is cheating in the last election, with him saying he’s not going to do that again, I’m not sure that they can replace him at this late date with somebody who is willing to take the risk of going to prison for 20 years.
Which if they do that again could very well happen. So we will see. But these three things all happening at the same time are both ominous on one hand and very hopeful on another.
Michael, I’m going to tie three completely disparate issues together under the category of grifting. And that’s what I’ve said. The essence of the entire Biden administration is that. We know that Biden took out a terrorist in Syria, and that’s a good thing.
But the bad thing about that is that Biden is still just determined to strike, to redo the nuclear deal with Iran and give Iran billions and billions of dollars. And it is Iran that is the chief sponsor of terrorism in the Middle East and, in fact, around the world.
To take out one terrorist and then give money to a government that funds terrorists makes no sense. The other little footnote on that is that when Trump took out Soleimani, who is equally a terrorist, Biden condemned Trump for doing that, claiming that we don’t need another war in the Middle East.
One could make the same claim here but that would be an incorrect claim. If Biden was truly concerned about terrorism in the Middle East, he would not be giving Iran billions of dollars.
The second one is – and this is so typical, unfortunately – the entire Democratic Party, there was a bill that was introduced in the House. It was about to pass the House, and the goal of the bill was to provide incentives and support to move manufacturing back from China.
Now, we can argue over whether or not the federal government should have any responsibility for that, and we certainly could argue it shouldn’t target particular businesses. It should just pass policies that encourage manufacturing.
But in the bill – the America Compete Act – at the last minute, Democrat Eddie Bernice Johnson from Texas, stuck in the bill that all private manufacturers who take money must unionize their workforce.
This is so typical and unfortunate of the Democrat Party that anytime federal dollars are being used, they just cannot bring themselves to help all Americans. They have to help only themselves at the expense of everybody else.
And the last one that I want to tie together under grifting – and this one is actually much more serious – what Biden is doing is he is populating the Federal Reserve with a bunch of grifters who are a bunch of people who believe that it should be the policy of the Federal Reserve to mandate and change our energy system.
When Congress established the Federal Reserve it established it to do two things. One is to keep inflation in check and to keep unemployment low. I’m not sure that the Federal Reserve can do both of those things.
But if you add on top of that, switching our economy from a fossil-based economy to a green economy and then include those two things, it is not possible to do all of those three things at the same time.
And now we have people who are in front of the Senate actually lying about their own record. And they won’t be called to task, as Roger Stone was when they claimed he lied to Congress and to the FBI. But this lady, Sarah Bloom Raskin, has a long record of claiming that it’s up to the government to move us to a green economy and to hurt fossil fuel companies. And she’s denying what she has previously said.
I’m going to pick up on Mondays because and add to it. And we talked about Martin Luther nailing the 95 feces on the church door. And that was in 1521. And as a result of that, he was excommunicated because he was challenging the Catholic Church. The institution of the Catholic Church, which then became a challenge later.
Not with Martin Luther, but with John Locke. A challenge of monarchies and inherited government and the divine right of kings was challenged. But after he was excommunicated, he then the Catholic Church deemed him to be an outlaw for his ideas. So one might say that Martin Luther was trying to start an insurrection.
And so now you see what’s happening on January 6 in Washington. And let’s look at the institutions that are being attacked by the modern-day Republican Party, not the old Republican Party, but the modern-day Republican Party. Look at what’s happening across our country.
There are articles about our jails and prisons in this country. I’m talking about the ones that are owned and run by the government. They’re crumbling and falling apart. The Washington jail that is holding so many of the so-called January 6 insurrectionists, it’s crumbling.
But it’s not for lack of money that the prison systems are getting. The problem is the prison systems are controlled by the unions that control the prison guards. And instead of investing in infrastructure and educational programs, they just invest in greater bureaucracy and higher pay.
The same thing is true with Amtrak. Biden has given them $60 billion of taxpayer money and is in his infrastructure bill that’s already passed. And that is $60 billion to support Amtrak and Amtrak is falling apart. Then let’s look at the post office.
The post office has a bunch of wonderful employees, but it still is getting billions and billions of dollars of subsidy from taxpayers every single year, and they’re doing everything they can to turn the Postal Service, which is supposed to be completely apolitical, into a political arm of the Democrat Party.
And we see here that if we go back hundreds of years and see where people who challenged the status quo and who challenged the relationship in the old days, the relationship between the Catholic Church and the kingdoms whereas nowadays it’s a challenge between the unions and the Democrat Party.
But the institutions are attacking the current day people the same way the institutions did in the old days. They’re trying to turn people who simply disagree and want to change the way things are into outlaws.
