Crom Carmichael on How the Democrats Are Now the Official Party of Anti-American Big Government and Multi-Billionaires

Crom Carmichael on How the Democrats Are Now the Official Party of Anti-American Big Government and Multi-Billionaires

Live from Music Row Friday morning on The Tennessee Star Report with Michael Patrick Leahy – broadcast on Nashville’s Talk Radio 98.3 and 1510 WLAC weekdays from 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. –  host Leahy welcomed the original all-star panelist Crom Carmichael to the studio to weigh in on Democrat policies of anti-American nature and holding individual Republicans’ responsible for weakness when in power.

Leahy: Joined in studio as we almost always are every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 6:30 a.m. by the original all-star panelist Crom Carmichael. Good morning.

Carmichael: Good morning, Michael.

Leahy: Crom, I was just looking at the headline at Breitbart. Here’s the headline: China Rebukes Biden’s Foreign Policy Team; Humiliates Cites Black Lives Matter on U.S. Human Rights Abuses. They’re trying to make a moral equivalent between their suppression of personal liberties, their terrorism, of putting Uyghurs in concentration camps with the Black Lives Matter movement.  They had this conference between Secretary of State Blinken. He’s from that former law firm, Winken, Blinken, and Nod. That guy. (Silence) That’s a joke, Crom.

Carmichael: I got it.

Leahy: Yeah, you got the joke. It wasn’t funny enough for you. But when Winking Blinken and nod our secretary of state went in in mildly rebuke, then they came back, just torched him on our land in Anchorage and said, Well, you have no standing to interfere in our affairs because you’re abusing the rights of so many Americans with this Black Lives Matter movement as evidence of it. It’s humiliation on American soil.

Carmichael: It’s to be expected because, frankly, the Democrat Party wants to become like the Communist Chinese Party.

Leahy: No question about it.

Carmichael: They really do. And I’ll give you another example of that. I don’t know if you know this, I really wasn’t paying attention to it.  I read an article about it that this 1.9 trillion so-called stimulus COVID bill, which was nine percent for COVID and 91 percent for all the Democratic friends included language in there that says that if a state takes any of the money, they cannot cut taxes. Now you can use it to spend more, but you cannot cut taxes.

Leahy: They don’t have the authority to do that but it’s in the law.

Carmichael: It’s in the law. And so now the states have to sue in order to get that part of the law overturned. But it gives you an idea of how the Democrat Party thinks. It does want to control the country from a tiny city on the East Coast. That’s what it wants to do, which is anti-American. And I want to say that in the clearest term to all my friends out there who are Democrats, your party, not you, your party has become anti-American.

Nancy Pelosi says she reveres the Constitution. That’s BS. She does not revere the Constitution. She hates the Constitution. All she does this is what they all trot out, oh, I revere the Constitution. The Constitution clearly has the ninth and tenth Amendments. At no time ever has the federal government attempted to tell the states that they can’t determine their own tax policy.

Leahy: They’ve never done it. It’s a violation of the separation of powers.

Carmichael: Yes, in the Constitution, but it’s anti American. Our Constitution is the bedrock of of our American form Of government. So it is anti American, not just anti Constitution. It is anti-American. And if you look at virtually everything that they are doing, what they’re doing is anti American. patriotism is not even the issue here.

They want to create a totalitarian state. That’s what they want to do. And this isn’t hyperbole. This is looking at the language in their own bills. If you look at HR1 one they want to do away with the filibuster so that they can with a 50/50 Senate, they want to be able to pass every single piece of legislation that they want to pass without any support from the other half of the people.

Leahy: They’re paying no attention to the other half.

Carmichael: They don’t care about the other half of the people.

Leahy: They want to crush them, crush us! We’re deplorable neanderthals.

Carmichael: No, they want to crush us politically. What’s going to be really interesting is I think the seeds of their giant tax increase are beginning to take shape, and they want to tax the 100,000 aires but they want to leave the multibillionaires alone. So you have the Democrat Party is now the party a big government and the multi-billionaires. That’s what the Democrat Party is.

Leahy: I agree completely. We are in the midst of an existential crisis.

Carmichael: Yes.

Leahy: Not just at the border, but for our constitutional Republic.

Carmichael: For the whole way we live. The way we are governed. It’s distressing to watch. And the deal with John Kerry and his mask is a perfect example. We’re going to pass laws, and we’re going to apply them with great zeal and toughness against everybody who’s not on our side. And our side, though, doesn’t have to live by the rules. When you see that picture from your company.

Leahy: At 7:15 on Wednesday morning, Neil McCabe, our Washington correspondent, was here. We talked for about 15 minutes. Three hours later, he broke that story. We reviewed it. We said, Yes, this is authentic picture. We published it. It’s been all over the world.

Carmichael: But then Kerry lied about it.

Leahy: He lied a lot about it.

Carmichael: He said I just took it off the moment he was reading, so he had disconnected it. He was hanging from his ears.

Leahy: You can see that in the picture.

Carmichael: And he was reading.

Leahy: By the way, notice what a weasel. He’s not a stand-up guy. He didn’t say, Oh, Yes, that picture showed me with my mask off because it did. He said, if that was the word, if my mask was hanging off my left ear, it was only momentary. What a weasel.

Carmichael: Yeah, but the point is, he then gets away with it. He then gets away with it. And so what we have here is example, after example, after example of the left thinking that it can and essentially attempting. And the question is if Republicans regain power in Washington, and I think Mitch McConnell only because, by the way, only because he has 50 senators can he threaten to not let him have a quorum. Think about this for a second. If you only had 49 senators, then he couldn’t even threaten that.

Leahy: Out of luck he would be.

Carmichael: He would have no power at all. And so we are literally one two-term period away from our country, becoming unrecognizable to the average person. And that is a frightening prospect because Republicans don’t do a good job of rolling things back. All they do when they have power is stop the advance of the left. But they don’t do anything institutionally to push it back.

Leahy: And let me illustrate that point. March 2010, purely partisan vote violating actually the Constitution in terms of how spending bills should originate. They jammed through Obamacare. The Supreme Court actually invented a reason not to declare it unconstitutional. John Roberts. When the Republicans took over, they in November 2010, did nothing to stop it.

Carmichael: No, that’s not true. It’s not true. That is not true. The House passed the bill to overturn Obamacare, and John McCain broke his word to his voters. And that one Republican vote stopped Obamacare from being overturned.

Leahy: Let me push back. When I say the Republicans did not stop it the Republicans did not stop it.

Carmichael: No, Michael, if you’re going to attack Republicans, don’t attack all Republicans attacked the guy that broke his word. And that’s John McCain. He lied to the voters. When he was running for reelection, he promised to vote to overturn Obamacare. And by the way, this is exactly why our side fails. Paul Ryan was considered weak. Paul Ryan passed all kinds of good legislation out of the House, but Mitch McConnell and I’m not blaming Mitch McConnell here, but Susan Collins and the guy from Delaware. The bald-headed guy from Delaware. What’s his name?

Leahy: Chris Coons.

Carmichael: Chris Coons. They wrote this passionate letter together to maintain the filibuster.

Leahy: And change their minds on that.

Carmichael: Well, no, Susan College didn’t go on. The Democrats did. Democrats did. But this is the point I’m trying to make. So don’t trash Republicans in general trash the ones that fail us individually.

Leahy: But that wasn’t an individual failure. It was a failure of the leadership to get all that.

Carmichael: No, it wasn’t, Michael. It was a failure of one guy.

Leahy: We will agree to disagree. On that we’ll agree to disagree back with more.

Host Leahy and Carmichael Examine Democratic Mobster Mentality, China, and the Co-Opting of America

Host Leahy and Carmichael Examine Democratic Mobster Mentality, China, and the Co-Opting of America

Live from Music Row Monday morning on The Tennessee Star Report with Michael Patrick Leahy – broadcast on Nashville’s Talk Radio 98.3 and 1510 WLAC weekdays from 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. –  host Leahy welcomed the original all-star panelist Crom Carmichael to the studio to outline how Democrat’s continue to chip away at American’s individual freedoms and China’s clever co-opting of its institutions and politicians.

Leahy: Crom, if there’s a bad idea, the United States House of Representatives, led by Nancy Pelosi, is certain to pass it.

Carmichael: It really is amazing, of course, now she has an agenda. And as I’ve said many times, I’m going to repeat myself yet again, the Democrat Party has become the party of government. And so her agenda is to give the government more power and to make as many people as possible feel beholden to the government. So everything she does is to further the power of government. And to weaken. And by the way, in to weaken the rights of the individual.

Leahy: Absolutely. The House last week on Tuesday passed a bill and sent it to the Senate where hopefully it’s going to die. But we’ll see. That was based on this very bad California law that in essence, outlawed independent contractors, destroying the gig economy. Now it passed in California. There’s an article at Reason Magazine about this. In November, California approved a ballot initiative that vetoed parts of that very bad bill that outlawed independent contractors. The question is, why are Democrats in Congress trying to force those rules down the throat of the entire country? That’s what Reason said.

Carmichael: The answer is that Democrats in general, but particularly liberal Democrats hate right-to-work laws because they want everybody to be a member of a union so that they then have to pay dues. And then 98 percent of all union dues go to Democrats. And the unions also then are able through forced union dues to employ people who are working politics on a full-time basis.

Leahy: On a full-time basis. Let me just elaborate on that Crom. You said something very important. This is a problem here that we face, left versus right in America. If you’re a left-wing, Marxist, neo-Marxist agitator and you want to be full-time employed working to destroy America, you just put your hand up. And there are just 100s of nonprofit organizations funded by anti-American left-wing billionaires. They’ll give you a job.

Carmicheal: Or unions.

Leahy: Or unions.

Carmichael: Because there are all kinds of people who work for unions who do nothing but political stuff.

Leahy: And on our side, here’s how it works. This is the disadvantage conservatives face. And everybody in our listing audience says, yeah, yeah. They look around and every time you turn around, there’s this huge push to do something really stupid left-wing. And the question is, well, where are our people pushing back? Well, most of our people are working.

Carmichael: Yeah.

Leahy: Right? And so they have to do part-time, and they don’t have the billionaires on the right. They don’t fund conservative causes in the way the billionaires on the left do.

Carmichael: Well, they’re not nearly as many billionaires on the right either.

Leahy: That’s a sad fact but true.

Carmichael: I would say that 80 to 90 percent of the billionaires are supporting left-leaning organizations. And I think they do that out of their own self-interest.

Leahy: It is self-interest because they don’t want the left coming after them for their money.

Carmichael: Right.

Leahy: So on that list of leftist billionaires, Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, Warren Buffett. Terrible.

Carmichael: Warren Buffett figured that out a long time ago.

Leahy: He figured that out a long time at how you protect himself.

Carmichael: He figured out that the best way to protect Warren Buffett is to claim he should be paying more taxes, but then not follow through by paying more taxes all on his own, just to show that he really means it.

Leahy: He doesn’t pay that much in taxes. And he takes advantage of every tax law. Although he writes these editorials, (Wimpy voice) “I should be paying more.” He doesn’t pay more. He’s a hypocrite. All you Warren Buffest fans, you can invest in Berkshire Hathaway and make a lot of money but the guy is a hypocrite.

Carmichael: And this is why big business now is giving most of its money to Democrats is they’re doing it as a way to protect themselves. It really is as I told you, I’ve been watching this series on mobsters. And in the olden days, one of the things that mobsters did was they just took money from small retailers and in a particular area as protection money, saying, if you don’t get me the money, people will rob you or burn your store out or something like that. So if you give me money, I’ll protect you. That’s what’s happening now is that if you want to be a protected company and if you say something that is mildly conservative, for example, I hope the people of Hong Kong remain free.

Leahy: Yeah. Something controversial like that.

Carmichael: If you say something like that, then you’ll lose your job.

Leahy: Especially if you’re in the NBA.

Carmichael: Yes. But I’m saying virtually anywhere that if you stand up and generally as a business or as a CEO if you come out for freedom of the individual and if you say negative things about China, there’s a very good chance that you’ll lose your job. So that’s true.

Leahy: That is a true statement.

Carmichael: That is a true statement because the amount of money that the Chinese have figured out is that you can buy people. And if you buy people in power, then you can extort all the rest by having them fear the people in power. And so that’s what the Chinese have figured out how to do. The Soviets never did it because they never had the money to do it.

Leahy: Chinese have the money. Chinese have the money and were the ones who gave it to them.

Leahy: Yep. Just gave it to them. You look back and this whole theory, it was sort of a Kissinger Nixon philosophy, right? The opening of China. If we show them the wonders of capitalism, they will then adopt Western civilization values.

Carmichael: They’ll become more like us. And that turned out to be false.

Leahy: Totally false. In fact, they used our freedom. They used our liberties. They used our system to their advantage. And they are manipulating us right now.

Carmichael: Yeah. And we spend our money on far away wars. And they don’t spend any money on far away wars. They spend their money on when they’re far away is building their economic base. They are all over Africa, for example. But they’re not all over Africa with soldiers. They’re all over Africa with engineers and money. And they co-op. And then they co-op the local government so that those local cut so that those countries, more or less, become a subsidiary.

Leahy: Exactly. It’s modern mercantilism, but very clever. What they’ll do is they’ll go into an underdeveloped country, and they say we are going to put up the money to build your ports.

Carmichael: Yes.

Leahy: We’re going to build the money to build your roads. That money has a little catch to it. High-interest rates. And if you don’t do what we want, we’re going to call the money.

Carmichael: Well, and not only high-interest rates, but we then have the right to come into your country and operate mines or do what we want to exploit your natural resource.

Leahy: Exactly.

Carmichael: In other words, they go into the countries that have natural resources, and then they take advantage of the fact that they’ve co-opted the government. Now, in co-opting the government, they greatly enrich the people who run those governments. They have a very good understanding of human nature and how to exploit that aspect of human nature. Our left-wingers understand it. And our left-wingers, by the way, get very rich. I’ve got all kinds of stories here about people in government that are enriching themselves while they claim to be public servants.

Leahy: Well, the problem going on with China right now in essence, they have a very sophisticated 21st-century colonialism. But actually, they provide fewer protections for those that they are colonizing than the British did or the other Europeans did back in the 19th century.

Carmichael: They go in, and they co-opt entire governments by enriching a few people at the top and then providing them with all the support they need to remain in power.

Leahy: They’ve done a lot of that here in the United States as well.

Carmichael: Yes. All these Confucius Institutes around the country. So they’re co-opting higher education. They’re co-opting Hollywood. They’re co-opting the entire entertainment industry. They’ve co-opted our politicians. Many of our politicians have been co-opted. And then they’ve co-opted big business and Big Tech.

Leahy: Big time. Big time.

Maury County Mayor Andy Ogles Talks About His Letter to Governor Lee About Forced Investment to Companies that Censor

Live from Music Row Thursday morning on The Tennessee Star Report with Michael Patrick Leahy – broadcast on Nashville’s Talk Radio 98.3 and 1510 WLAC weekdays from 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. –  host Leahy welcomed Maury County Mayor Andy Ogles to the newsmakers line.

At the top of the second hour, Ogles explained his recent proposal to Governor Bill Lee suggesting Tennessee discontinue doing business or any investing in support of companies that advocate for censorship. He continued to voice his concern noting that the United States is in a situation where non-governmental agencies and government tell you what you can and can’t say and when you can and cannot say it.

Leahy: And our guest on the newsmaker line Maury County Mayor Andy Ogles. Welcome, Andy.

Ogles: Good morning. How are you?

Leahy: I’m great. Yesterday you made some news and you sent a letter to Governor Bill Lee and Lieutenant Governor Randy McNally and Speaker of the House Cam Sexton. I’ll read from this and then just get your reaction. ‘Tennessee and should not be forced to invest in support the very companies that are conspiring to silence them.

Furthermore, the state of Tennessee should refrain from doing business with these companies by way of prohibition of advertising on Google, Facebook or Twitter. And a prohibition of Amazon Services until such time these companies admit their errors and remove said censorship and prohibitions from their respective platforms. Have you received any response to this proposal yet Andy?

Ogles: Not directly from leadership. But last night I had several members of both in the Senate and the House reach out to me thanking me for taking a bold stance and thought that it would be great and that they were going to work on legislation to try to get introduced. Now just to set expectations, you know, they convened for session. They are in their organizational phase but then next week they go into special session which will last three to five days. and then they’ll recess till probably March or April. So there’s not much going to be done from the legislature outside of education just because of the way it’s structured this year.

Leahy: Gotcha, so, What would be the very specific proposals? And has anybody said I’m going to sponsor such a proposal?

Ogles: Not yet. But you know, when you think about it and a lot of people realize that states across the country they have retirement plans and they have huge cash amounts dollars that they have to invest. They have budget surpluses etc. And so the state of Tennessee, the state of Florida, Utah, South Carolina, etc., they’re all huge institutional investors.

So, you know up there, you know in Nashville, you know, we’ve got 100 or 150 or so in a department and that’s all they do is invest Tennessee’s money. and so, you know these states have a lot of power. And look you can like Trump you can hate trump. It doesn’t matter. The fact that they have censored the president of the United States is incredibly concerning, period.

And that’s why you’re seeing the chancellor of Germany, the president of France, the president of Mexico and Brazil all saying hold on a minute. This is wrong. You can disagree with this man. and you know in France and Mexico their respective leaders don’t like President Trump, so it’s not like they’re in love with this man, but they understand we’re in a state where suddenly the President of the United States can be blocked, banned, censored and there’s no recourse.

They just have all the authority. And this is a scary time. We’re an Orwellian time today. I hate to be a conspiracy theorist, but now we’re in a situation where you have non-governmental agencies and the government telling you what you can and can’t say and when you can and cannot say it. And that’s the United States, I’m not talking about Venezuela. I’m talking about here in our country now.

Leahy: How big is this investment fund that the state of Tennessee has under its control? Is it like 100 million a 150 million? How big is it?

Ogles: Well, yeah, I don’t know the answer to that. We have a rainy day fund and we have budget surpluses. We have funded pension funds. So you’re talking upwards of a billion dollars.

Leahy: There’s a let’s say there are a billion dollars. And that billion dollars is typically invested in bonds and stocks. and a lot of that if it’s a typical stock portfolio, you would have a lot of investment I would think in Google and Facebook and Twitter, I would guess right?

Ogles: You would assume. And so once these states and it would only take a handful to suddenly pull out of Twitter to pull off some of these technology companies and hits them and punish them through their stock. The other thing that can be done is just simply not Google advertising. Don’t advertise it on Twitter or Facebook. And you know, what’s unfortunate is that you know, Facebook has become and Twitter has become a major form of communication.

So they have gone beyond just being a business being part of the media. And so they’re in a hybrid situation of where yes their company. You know, it’s one thing to let’s say you were I or on Twitter or on Facebook and we post something that’s inflammatory or shouldn’t be posted. I get it. They have the right to delete that particular post. But to blatantly block and then delete the President of the United States again, I don’t care if you’re a Republican or Democrat or Independent, that should concern you to a degree that you can’t sleep at night.
