Matt Kittle: Conservatives Need to Keep Their ‘Eyes Wide Open’ as Ballots are Being Counted

Nov 5, 2024

Matt Kittle, a senior elections correspondent for The Federalist, said conservatives should be keeping their “eyes wide open” tonight and in the coming days as ballots are being counted across the nation, specifically in swing states.

“We’ve seen too many shenanigans in the past to not keep our eyes wide open on the conservative front,” Kittle said on Monday’s edition of The Michael Patrick Leahy Show.

With regard to the presidential race, Kittle noted that Vice President Kamala Harris’ closing argument “stinks of desperation” which means that the Democrats will “fight as hard as they can” to emerge victorious which should be “worrisome” to conservatives.

“[Harris’ closing argument] stinks of desperation and that’s what, I think, is really worrisome because like a rat backed into a corner, they’re going to fight as hard as they can to get out of this thing. That’s why we’ve seen the characterizing of Trump as Hitler and his supporters as garbage, this is their closing argument,” Kittle said.

Kittle further explained that while voters are overwhelmingly drawn to the policies of former President Donald Trump, there are “mechanisms in place” that could drag out the election and result in a narrow victory for either candidate.

“It’s going to go one of two ways. I’m speaking the obvious, it’s going to be a route by Trump because people really do care about the economy and millions of illegal immigrants flooding the border and all of those issues that he’s rightly pointed to,” Kittle said.

“But again, there are a lot of mechanisms in place that could keep this thing extremely narrow and drag it out. Plus, we have elections officials in Milwaukee, in Detroit, in Fulton County, Georgia known to have all kinds of problems on election night,” Kittle added.

In a more positive light, Kittle pointed out the increase of early votes cast by Republicans across the nation, which is a notable shift from previous elections.

“The message got out to a lot of Republicans, which was vote early. That’s so critical and we have seen a turnaround on that front because, let’s face it, Republicans forever have refused to vote early. I think that has drastically changed this election cycle,” Kittle said.

Metro Nashville Government ‘Knows It’s in Trouble’ With Response to ICE Operations, Reporter Believes

Tom Pappert, lead reporter at The Tennessee Star, said he believes the Metro Nashville government, specifically Mayor Freddie O’Connell, realizes it is facing serious legal consequences as a result of its efforts to thwart federal immigration enforcement operations.

O’Connell, following an immigration enforcement operation conducted in Nashville earlier this month that resulted in the arrests of 196 criminal illegal aliens, has worked to shield illegal aliens from law enforcement by launching a “Belonging Fund” to “support immigrants in Nashville during moments of crisis” and by amending his Executive Order 30 to mandate that Metro Nashville employees report contacts with federal immigration officials to him and the Office of New Americans.

Michael Patrick Leahy, CEO and editor-in-chief of The Tennessee Star, criticized the reporting by so-called “local” Nashville television stations about Monday’s “Stop the Invasion: Defend Tennessee” event hosted by U.S. Representative Andy Ogles (R-TN-05) to rally support for immigration enforcement efforts in the Volunteer State.

On Monday, Ogles and various Tennessee lawmakers and victims of crimes committed by illegal aliens spoke in support of the efforts by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to remove illegal immigrants from the Volunteer State during an event held at the Tennessee State Capitol in Nashville.
