Aaron’s Analysis: Gov. Bill Lee ‘Is Linking Arms with Justin Jones, Justin Pearson, Gloria Johnson, Joe Biden, and the Marxist Left’ by Calling for a Special Session in August on Gun Control

May 2, 2023

Live from Music Row, Tuesday morning on The Tennessee Star Report with Michael Patrick Leahy – broadcast on Nashville’s Talk Radio 98.3 and 1510 WLAC weekdays from 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. – host Leahy welcomed all-star panelist Aaron Gulbransen in studio for another edition of Aaron’s Analysis.

AARON GULBRANSEN:

For those of you who need review, of course, there’s been a lot of discussion over whether or not Tennessee is going to have a special session which I’ve spoken about ad nauseam. Governor Lee has made it clear that he wants to have a special session that will address gun control. Word on the street is it looks like it will be in August.

I, for one, think it’s a terrible idea for a variety of reasons. The idea of calling a gun control special session, which is linking arms with Justin Jones, Justin Pearson, Gloria Johnson, Joe Biden, and the Marxist left to push unconstitutional legislation, is wrong from a policy standpoint for a zillion reasons.

The Constitution, for one and a number of others, there’s the fact that it doesn’t work. And I can go on from there, but it is especially wrong in light of the governor’s 2022 refusal to call one special session to save the jobs of Tennessee National Guardsmen, who were affected by the Biden administration’s Draconian vaccine mandate.

I asked the other question. If you’re pushing a special session to be to violate the Second Amendment and create more gun control, there are a number of other issues you could have called a special session on in addition to the vaccine mandate. Let’s see, how about human and child trafficking, which is a scourge on the state, and the list could go on and on.

But I wanted to talk about another aspect of why this is irresponsible. The idea of a special session in August or any other time before a regular session is irresponsible from a public safety standpoint. I want to let that sink in for a second. It is irresponsible from a public safety standpoint.

Every Black Lives Matter, Antifa, and Soros-backed Marxist leftist activist from all over the United States is going to be bussed into Nashville in an effort to intimidate the General Assembly into acquiescence on anti-Second Amendment legislation. The potential for leftist violence is very real.

We saw this repeatedly in 2020 and other years. This would create a powder keg calling a special session on the issue of gun control, gives Justin Jones, Gloria Johnson, Justin Pearson, and Joe Biden exactly what they want.

It also creates a clarion call for crazy people to come to the Capitol and cause mischief. And to be fair, there will be a large number of right-wing protestors as well to protest their rights being taken away. It will create an utter powder keg.

Governor Lee has done a lot of good things during his time in office, including protecting the right to life, but he’s simply dead wrong to align with the far left on this push for a special session and turned Nashville into the powder keg I just mentioned. I hope and pray he changes course.
